Forbes launching a business blog network

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed or get your blog updates by email. Thanks for visiting!

The news is nearly a month old, but Forbes is still only sending out private email invitations about their new project. I had originally heard about it when there were few details about it, but I have found a few new updates and thought I would share my findings and opinions. Lets get started with some details…

Who?
Forbes, the business & financial news powerhouse

What?
Forbes is launching a business and financial blog network

When?
Forbes plans to launch it sometime this month

Skipping past the elementary school questions, lets get down to details. Forbes is one mammoth of a newspaper and makes millions off advertising, so I am hyped to give their blog network a try. Forbes has said they are going to pay bloggers 40% of the profits they receive, and this number is making a lot of potential publishers worried — let me explain why this is not a problem.

Firstly, Adsense also takes a majority stake in the amount that they pay you, so this is nothing new. With Forbes running your advertisements, you will know exactly how much money you are making from your ads, and they will have to notify you before they change the number (if they do). If this new business blog network takes off like I hope, everyone is going to win.

Whats in it for Forbes?
Forbes already has gigantic advertisers and a huge advertising inventory. With the power of the blogger community, they will ultimately expand their reach endlessly. They will also make 60% of all advertising profits and they will be doing ZERO extra work.

Whats in it for the advertisers?
They will be able to reach millions more viewers and have much better targeted campaigns.

Whats in it for ME (the bloggers)?
You will be able to make 40% advertising revenue and you know that Forbes will be able to sell out their inventory. While you are giving a majority amount of money away, it is common sense that Forbes WAY overcharges advertisers because they are an authority subject. Advertisers are glad to pay $10-20 per thousand views, instead of buying bulk in cheap which would result in way more sales. Advertisers are lazy and are glad to pay Forbes three times as much as anyone else just so they can tell their superiors that their product is listed on Forbes. Now you will be able to take 40% of those oversold prices which quite possibly will be way more than you make with Adsense. You will also not have to worry about people clicking on your advertisements because I predict it will be CPM ads. This means that even if you are in the over saturated and competitive Make Money Online or Internet Marketing niche, you will still earn just as much (if not more) of that excellent cash we all know and love.

Forbes also says they will be syndicating the best articles on Forbes.com! No details have emerged on which blogs or posts get featured, but I predict that this will be any search engine optimizers dream come true. One link from Forbes.com will turn your blog into an instant authority high ranking powerhouse (figuratively). With any random company trying to pull a huge endevor like this, it would be doomed to fail… but I think Forbes would be one of the few companies able to pull it off. When they go public with this idea, I will be one of the first to join and to fully test out the system. I feel that they have a huge potential of being able to sell off more inventory and pay you more than Adsense currently does. Like with all overhyped products, only time will tell.

Couldn’t find any, other than sometime this month (they said that early last month).

I will keep you updated.

Well any chance to make more money is great to hear. My self I think adsense sucks, when your traffic is blog based like it is for most who really wants to click on the ads.

Very good to know this and another option to monetize our blog very well

It’ll be fun to connect with them. Our 100 or so business blogs ought to find a few really direct matches. :)

Thanks for the heads-up, Collin, and I agree with your thoughts.

I dig the color scheme, by the way.

I’m also waiting for launch. Everything above is true to the best of my knowledge (I was invited to join the network too). Still waiting for a launch date. I’m currently running the Forbes network ads and I’m all set up in Adify (which is a nice interface). I can’t wait until they launch and the viewers/readers start arriving. I’ve spent a lot of time putting together some solid posts (please take a look - I’m looking for feedback). It will definitely be interesting when this goes live.
