Tumblr is a free blogging platform that takes about 5 seconds to setup. You enter your email, a password, and your subdomain, and your blog is instantly created. You can then build links to your new Tumblr blog and write content with anchor dofollow links back to your site.
I have a live Tumblr blog example for my Super Nintendo Console case study. You can see my Tumblr blog at super-nintendo-console.tumblr.com.

I have received around 5 emails in the past telling me that they were sent to a website where I was used as a testimonial for an ebook about making money by uploading garbage to torrent websites.
I received one email a few days ago:

Hi, Collin
I just received an email (not sure if it’s just spam), about how to make
zillions of dollars just by uploading torrents and your name is in there.
Is it true, or I should just delete it?
For your help, thanks

Back in August I made a post about LookupPage explaining that it was an excellent website that you could use to expand your link popularity. Well, Udi Drezner and I have been talking via email for awhile now and I now have a 10% coupon code for anyone interested in the professional package.
The coupon code for CollinLaHay.com readers is bud4c5.

Last weekend when I was in Las Vegas attending the BlogWorldExpo 2008, I made a blog post stating that I recorded a lot of “video elevator pitches” (30-60 second explanations of a company, who they cater to, what they do, why people should use them, etc). People call them elevator pitches because you should be able to explain your company to the people around you in the time it takes to ride an elevator to your floor… (Read Wikipedia for the longer, nerdier definition).

I have been running this blog for nearly a year now, and over that time I have had literally hundreds of emails asking about link building or search engine optimization related questions, and many of them keep coming up over and over again.
With that being said, I feel rather than answering them over and over to each specific email, I would take the most common questions I get asked about link building and try to answer as many link building questions ask I can.

Work.com is a pagerank 6 authority site that features a lot of how-to guides on many subjects. The site looks professional, so I took the time to have a client of mine write two high quality how-to guides to publish on the site including a link back to our site.
Well, for whatever reason, the staff at Work.com suspended both of my articles and didn’t state a reason… After looking around for a reason for why my two articles were suspended, I noticed a few pages that had a pagerank of 3-4 and had a ton of comments with spammy backlinks that were followed by the search engines.

I am writing this post inside my hotel room in Vegas. I am staying at the Riviera, which is a few minutes away from the Las Vegas Convention Center, where the BlogWorldExpo 2008 is being held. Today I stopped by nearly all of the booths and had a representative from most of the companies do a quick 30 second elevator pitch about who their company was, what they did, who they catered to, etc. Once the video is edited and polished I will post it here on my blog for those that are interested (Hey, an exhibit pass is $75, and you get it for free).

PBWiki is a free website that allows you to create your own wiki about anything you want. It is like being able to create your own niche clone of wikipedia. You control all of the content on the pages, and you can build in-content links. I originally found this method of link building when my twitter marketing page had an anchor text backlink from a PR5 page.
If you are smart, you could make blog posts around related PBWiki niches that have high pagerank, and include a deep link to the page/blog post you wrote about, much like how my twitter blog post is linked from a high pagerank twitter pbwiki.
